I can’t tell you the overwhelming feeling of oneness that overtook me as I watched thousands of people take to the streets of Chicago today, in support of the Palestinian people. Emotion swelled from deep within my soul as I stood looking down from a fourth floor parking garage, listening to thousands of voices chanting as one: Gaza! Gaza! Gaza!. The voices rose up from the pavement and echoed for what seemed like a hundred miles across the urban sky: Gaza! Gaza! Gaza!
This march was a family event, with people of all ages participating in the rally. It was truly good to see such young faces mixed in with the old, taking advantage of our freedom to peaceably assemble.
Having covered dozens of political rallies and marches here in Chicago – from the Tea Party, to Occupy and NATO – I feel compelled to report that this was by far the most well organised, well maintained rally that I have ever witnessed. The Palestinian cause is just, and their voices are clear – “Long Live Palestine!”
