Urban Photography Workshop Review, Chicago

Spread the love

I just received a review of my urban photography workshop here in Chicago. I had a wonderful time, not only photographing, but discussing meaningful subject such as the nature of evil, as well as the kindness and compassion we can show our fellow man.  I was personally touched by your letter, Ellen, especially your personal note (which I’ve omitted from this post). Thanks again for a wonderful day, and we will stay in touch!

Chuck,

Many thanks for a fantastic workshop. I’ve been to other workshops, but none of them were like yours; it was amazing. First, as an instructor, you are engaging and down to earth and I can truly say that your passion for street photography clearly shows through. I believe your passion comes from a heart that cares deeply about the human condition and is unafraid of getting involved in the story. There is a genuine authenticity to your approach, which is refreshing.

Second, you not only address the technical and creative aspects of photography, but you bring an experienced, honest voice to the realities of what it takes to be a street photographer and to push oneself to build an image that has a strong impact.

I left the workshop feeling a little overwhelmed but also challenged. My head was spinning with everything I learned. I have so much to think about and even more things I need to change; but that’s why I came to your workshop in the first place. You have given me a strong foundation for moving forward.

Believe it or not, yours was the first workshop I attended where the instructor actually took the students out to practice what was taught. Walking through Chicago was intense (in a good way), but there is no better approach to learning than by doing. With practice and patience, I know that my skills and vision will become more acute and that I will eventually be able see my work with a new set of eyes.

I will absolutely recommend your workshops to everyone in my photo groups.

My best and kindest regards,
Ellen G. Ingram
