My saddle bags are filled with Nikon cameras, and I’m ready to go! I have the D700 in one bag, and the D7000 in the other. I snagged a new set of leather bags off of Craigslist for only $50.00. My lens came in for my Kiev 88, so as far as cameras are concerned, I’m all set.
My first documentary adventure will be photographing the people, places and things that I find along U.S. Route 45. While many people know of the famous Route 66, Route 45 is little more than a fractured footnote in the story of American highways. That being said, Route 45 is an old road, the first to run from Lake Superior all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.
I’m giving several street photography workshops down in New Orleans during Jazz Fest, so I’ll also make this an opportunity to document an old American road! In the fall, I’ll be leaving for New Mexico and all the unknown adventures that await us there!
If you would like to attend one of the LAST street photography workshops that I will be offering in New Orleans, please visit my New Orleans photography workshop page.
Documentary Photography – Beginning, middle, and end. The 24mm to capture the big picture, and the 135mm to capture the smaller details. Always thinking, “I need images for the beginning, the middle, and the end of the story.” Social doc is a much different mindset than street. Doc photography is far more challenging, far more rewarding, and far more important compared to street photography. Let’s have an awesome summer documenting the world around us!
