I’m almost finished with part two of “Against Doctor’s Orders,” which is the first series of my social documentary magazine, “Gravis.” The next issue contains many photos that I’ve never published, like these black and white film images of Shaggy prior to his getting the infection, which would ultimately cost him part of his leg.
This is Shaggy preparing to start his day by getting himself, and his wheelchair, up the steps of Lower Wacker Drive. Shaggy was in the wheelchair due to a heroin overdose which left him with nerve damage.

What people are saying about Gravis Magazine:
“Got my copy of Gravis Volume 1 recently and read it cover to cover. Wow, I am blown away, little emotional, and speechless! It is a text that takes a little while to sink in before you feel you can express any opinion about it. The social documentary photography within this issue, that accompanies Shaggy’s story, is truly phenomenal. In all honesty, the story itself is why you should buy this volume and future copies of Gravis. The story is real with no qualms and no exaggeration of life in the streets. I look forward to reading Volume 2!”
