Several thousand Palestinians and supporters took to the streets of Chicago yesterday in protest of Israel’s recent aerial bombardment and ground operations in Gaza.

The event was organized by the Chicago Coalition for Justice in Palestine, a federation of several local Palestinian, Arab and Muslim organizations.

The protesters rejected Israel’s claims of self defense, demanded an immediate halt to Israel’s military action in Gaza, and called on the mainstream media to provide balanced coverage that shows the Palestinian perspective.

Having covered many political events over the years here in Chicago, I can report that this event was very well organized. The turnout and energy at this rally dwarfed that of any past Tea Party march or protest.

Thank you Chuck jines for the excellent coverage of the mass protest. Truly appreciate the effort for you do not need to be a Palestinian, Arab or Muslim. You simply need to be Human to stands up for Palestine.
